The Blue Mountains National Park is in New South Wales and it takes about an hour by car to get there from the centre of Sydney.

We followed the Western Motorway out of the city until we reached Glenbrook.

Once at Glenbrook we went into the tourist information and got maps of the various towns in the Blue Mountain area.

We continued on from Glenbrook to Wentworth Falls where we stopped to look at the lake. We also went to the Jamison and Princes Rock Lookouts from where we could see the waterfall the town was named after.

Proceeding further westward we arrived in Katoomba and followed the Cliff Drive to Narrow Neck, Landslide and Eaglehawk Lookouts.

We then arrived at Scenic World Blue Mountains Australia and rode the skyrail. I found it incredibly crowded but it did offer some good views of the area.

We carried on along the Cliff Drive until we reached Echo Point. Here you will find the best view of the Three Sisters – the most iconic rock formation in the Blue Mtns.

We also stopped at the very pretty Leura Cascades before grabbing dinner and returning to Sydney.

  • We hired a car from Avis in the centre of Sydney. (Underage fee applied)
  • The toll for using the Western highway was $2.75 one way
