ANZAC Day, 25 April 2015
ANZAC Day services will be taking place in towns and cities across the country. This year’s services will be particularly poignant as they will mark the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings during the First World War.

The day begins with a series of dawn services and one of the largest in the world will be held in Kings Park, Perth. The service usually attracts over 40,000 people but the 2015 event is expected to exceed this number.

The event commences in the dark and the sun rises during the service. If you’re planning on attending get there early and use the free shuttle bus from the Esplanade Busport as parking is very limited.

After the service finishes around 7am the Gunfire Breakfast will be served until 9am. You can share in the meal for the price of a donation of a ‘gold coin’.

A military parade starts around 9:30am at the corner of William Street and St Georges Terrace, and weaves its way around the city finally arriving at the Supreme Court Gardens for a commemorative service at 11am.

More events are being held throughout the city, including 3 days of music, storytelling and installations at the Perth Cultural Centre, focusing on the theme of World War One.

Camp Gallipoli
One of Perth’s most affecting and involving ANZAC Day commemorations is Camp Gallipoli. It remembers the 100th anniversary of the ill-fated campaign and groups and individuals will camp together as the Diggers did during the First World War. There will be no tents or camping stoves, just an opportunity to sleep under the stars and “join in a night of entertainment and remembrance”. In the morning there will be a dawn service followed by breakfast prior to the closure of the camp.

Where: Ascot Racecourse, 71 Grandstand Road, Ascot WA 6104
When: Friday 24 April from 3pm
Cost:
Including dinner and breakfast – Adult $121, Concession/Junior (3-15) $99
Excluding food: Adult $88 Concession/Junior $77
