CMC Rocks QLD 2015
Queensland’s biggest festival of country draws some big names, and this year the headliners are Grammy Award winners Lady Antebellum. If you’d prefer to avoid the mainstream, though, you’ll find lots more to enjoy across the festival’s 3 days and 3 stages.

South Bank Surf Club Sunday Sessions
Glorious views across the river, fabulous food and cold beer. And on Sundays you can add great entertainment to the mix. There are 2 sets of live entertainment – 2:30-5:30pm and 5:30-8:30pm. You’ll need to book, but it makes for a great way to spend a Sunday.

Where: Stanley Plaza, Parklands

Brisbane Irish Festival
Festival balls, Irish choirs and family fun days – St Patrick’s Day is big news in Brisbane. There’s loads to enjoy including a street parade on the 14 March, the Saturday before the day itself.

Riverside Markets at the Pier
Browse the stalls of hand-made arts and crafts, clothes and jewellery. Pick up a gift or two and enjoy the food and entertainment.

Brisbane Comedy Festival
Feed your funny (to steal a line from BBC3) with a huge range of Australian and international comedians. From leftfield to observational to just plain bonkers, if your Australian travels have left you exhausted and in need of a good laugh, you’ll find it here.

Mission Queensland Firebirds
Netball doesn’t have the highest of profiles in the UK. It’ll come as no surprise that sport-loving Australia treats it very differently. Watch the Firebirds take on the NSW Swifts in this ANZ Championship match and soak up the atmosphere.

Australian Chamber Orchestra: Reflections on Gallipoli
Almost 9,000 Australians lost their lives in the ill-fated Gallipoli campaign during the First World War. 100 years after what was a defining moment in Australian national history, the ACO presents a “heartfelt exploration of our ANZAC story through music”.
