Adelaide Festival
For 50 years the Adelaide Festival has brought world class art, music, theatre and dance to the city. This year the programme is as broad and eclectic as ever, with an impressive mix of local and international talent.

Writers’ Week is a major part of the festival, with 6 days of free panel sessions that take place in the city centre’s gardens and which showcase emerging and established talent. It’s a must for budding writers and avid readers.

WOMADelaide
WOMAD is the World of Music, Arts and Dance. It was founded by musician, Peter Gabriel in 1982 but Adelaidians had to wait ten years before WOMADelaide appeared in their city. Seven stages host performances by over 400 traditional and modern musicians, dancers and DJs. It’s a family-friendly event with a KidZone activity area and stalls selling food and crafts.

Adelaide Cup 2015
First run in 1864, the Adelaide Cup is the feature horse race of (Australian) autumn’s annual Adelaide Cup Carnival. It starts at 4pm with jockeys competing over a 3,200m course.

On the turf the $400,000 prize money draws the best riders from South Australia and beyond. In the stands and grounds there’s entertainment, food, drink and the state’s biggest day for fashion. Best dressed could win you $15,000, in case you fancy making a real effort.

Future Music Festival 2015
Five events across Australia make up the Future Music Festival and the last of them takes place in Adelaide. Headlining is Canadian rapper Drake. Others on the line-up are DJ Avicii, Prodigy, and artists from UK, Netherlands and South Africa.

Head Of The River
15 South Australian secondary schools compete at the annual regatta which this year is hosted by Unley High School. The winning schoolgirl and schoolboy will be announced as Head of The River Champions. The event originally took place on Torrens Lake when it started back in 1922, but now it takes place at West Lakes. This isn’t the only rowing event taking place in March.
