Venice Beach. Rodeo Drive. The chance to jump on a ride at Universal Studios or follow the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Spend a few days on stopover in LA.
Do I need a visa for Los Angeles?
If you hold a machine-readable or biometric passport you should be able to stay for up to 90 days using the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP). Find out how to apply online here.
What vaccinations do I need for Los Angeles?
None, but check with your doctor eight weeks before you travel as requirements can change.
Do make sure your regular UK vaccinations are up to date.
Best time to visit Los Angeles?
March to May and September to November. As you’re heading to Australia the average June-September temperatures shouldn’t be anything to worry about (23-24°C) but the crowds are pretty fearsome.
Wettest months are January and February (February’s the worst). Temperatures will usually be 12-14°C in the winter months.
Whilst in LA you must see...
The famous sign in the Hollywood hills, the Walk of Fame, the hand and footprints outside the Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood Heritage Museum.
There may not be many movie studios left (although Paramount’s still here) but there’s movie history everywhere.
