City Centre

Culture, shopping, greenery and bustling business. Sydney’s CBD may sound like any other major city – but then most cities can’t boast the weather, the beaches, the views…

Things to do in Sydney City Centre

Shopping
If you’re a keen shopper you’ll find the biggest department stores and shopping centres here. Our favourite is the Queen Victoria Building, a picturesque shopping arcade opened in 1986, housing over 190 shops on four levels.

The Sydney Tower
The highest observation deck in the southern hemisphere. Roughly one million people visit each year for views that, on a clear day, can extend for over 50 miles.

The Museum of Sydney
A look at the history of the city to the present day. Interesting if you’re looking to discover more about Sydney’s past, or escape the heat, bustle or shops of the CBD.

Hyde Park
Named after its London counterpart, the park has fountains and memorials dedicated to the events and people who have shaped Australia. Ideal for a relaxing stroll.

The Great Synagogue
You don’t have to be Jewish to appreciate this national treasure. Consecrated in 1878, the synagogue is one of the finest in the world. Whether you visit as a result of faith, architecture or curiosity, you’re sure to be intrigued.

The Australian Museum
The country’s first public museum (it opened in 1827) houses the best collection of artefacts about Australia’s natural history. Lose yourself amid 18 million internationally recognised objects of scientific and cultural significance.
